Let’s face it, men. Every one of us at some point in our life has lusted. Our eyes see something soft and attractive and it’s all we can do to keep our eyes unglued. Women are beautiful! They were designed to be and, well, they are.

Unfortunately for many men, our thoughts have difficulty staying above the neck line when we admire God’s crux of creation – and whether we like to admit it, living in today’s well-networked world leaves us open to some intense temptation.  I thought I had it bad in middle school with dial-up internet, until the age of broadband. Later I thought quick access wirelessly on my laptop created issues! Well now we are being barraged with advertisements, fingertip internet access, and sex-charged apps on smartphones we never leave our homes without. It’s just getting that much more difficult today to flee. God rightly designed us men to have strong sexual desires (he has a great purpose for that within marriage), but what we allow ourselves to see (even us married guys) can send us careening down an icy Alpine slope of sin into a cold and lonely valley of addiction.

It’s always easy to tell ourselves what common sense and the Bible dictates when it comes to the lust of the flesh. It’s an entirely new battle when hormones and endorphins try to take our minds hostage as we endeavor to actually live that out.

This blog is dedicated to sharing my testimony:  how the Lord freed me from pornography addiction. I have had it on my heart to do something to share my experiences and the pain it caused for quite some time. Since I’m not much of a public speaker, God gave me an inkling (literary pun intended) that writing a blog would be a good place to start. I do not and will not pretend to be an absolute expert, but the Lord has given me insights to share. How did He exact my release from 12 years of growing bondage to lust and porn? I’m still reeling from his mercy towards me – I honestly wish I had all the answers. God enabled my freedom, but I have to stay vigilant and honest every day. If you choose to follow along, I pray that my life is an open book to you, as I hope it is to my wife of 5 years. If you have your own testimony to share, please do! If this blog affects even one other person, I feel I will have accomplished my purpose here. May Jesus Christ strengthen and encourage you here! Thanks for reading!

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.           —  http://www.bible.is/ENGESV/1Cor/10/13
There’s power in the Word and there is always hope,

P.S.- I must add that I named my blog porNO MORE because (a) I thought it fit, (b) I thought it clever (I couldn’t get it out of my mind that essentially having the word “porNO” in the name might garner more google hits), and (c) the URL with 2 n’s in the name (pornnomore) was already taken by a short-lived blog in 2007. I hope the name does not come across offensively; it is intended to be a hook for the 5 people or so who might actually take the time to read this blog…

  1. Hey Jer,
Thanks for sharing your struggle. God can (and will) use you and your struggle to encourage others who deal with the same thing. God is faithful!
